Barbering Program

The curriculum for students enrolled in a barbering course shall consist of not less than a thousand (1000) hours of technical instruction and practical training covering all practices of a manicurist, pursuant to Section 7316 of the Barbering and Cosmetology Act.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Barbering program consists of the study and practice of professional hair and skin care. Barbers specialize in hair styling and cutting, chemical treatments, waving, shaving techniques, hair cutting with clippers, razors and shears. 

EDUCATIONAL GOALS

Our primary goals are to provide a quality educational system that prepares students to pass the State Board examination and gain employment within their chosen field of study.

​PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • To educate and train students in the principles and practices of the barber profession, so they can successfully complete the examination by the State of California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology and obtain their Barber license.

  • To develop habits of orderly performance and good workmanship of various tasks of professional barbers.

  • Understand sterilization procedures.

  • Acquire knowledge of general theory relative to barbering as well as theory relative to practical procedures performed.

  • Acquire business management techniques common to barbers.

  • Acquire knowledge of laws and rules created by the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology.

  • To educate students in the fundamentals of successful business operations as they relate to the field of Barbering.

  • To assess the effectiveness of education course completion, licensure, and employment.

  • Acquire knowledge of laws and rules created by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
